Premier Christy Clark will walk in this year’s ‘We Are One’ pride march on August 13.
This is the first time a Premier is participating in the Kelowna march.
“We were thrilled to find out she wanted to march with us!” Okanagan Pride Society President Sydney Lawson said in a press release. “Our theme this year is We Are One; with everything that’s been going on in the world, to have her show her support and attend is amazing.”
The Kelowna march will start at Stuart Park at 11:00 and end at City Park where a festival will be held.
The Premier will not speak at the event and it has not been confirmed if she will attend the festival.
Other politicians joining the march include Kelowna Mayor Colin Basran, Penticton Mayor Andrew Jakubeit, and Kelowna-Lake Country MP Stephen Fuhr.
