Calgary and area got hammered with another day of wild weather Saturday.
It began with a special weather statement from Environment Canada around 11:00 a.m. warning of significant rainfall for Calgary and surrounding areas to the north, south, and west.

Then just after 7:00 p.m. a series of six thunderstorms developed almost right overtop of Calgary prompting Environment Canada to issue a severe thunderstorm warning for the city and areas north and west.
Almost immediately rotation was spotted within those first two storms and Environment Canada added a tornado watch for the city of Calgary that extended north to Olds and Sundre.
This video was sent to Global News from Gregory Woolfrey capturing the moment the warnings were upgraded from Environment Canada.
Often thunderstorm cells will show rotation for only a short period of time, but according to Environment Canada meteorologist Kyle Fougere, these cells contained rotation for almost 50 minutes.

The tornado warning was dropped around 8:00 p.m.
Initial findings show the funnel cloud did not touch ground, so it will not count as a tornado.
Golf-ball sized hail was reported outside of Calgary from the supercell thunderstorms, and there was significant localized flooding in the northwest part of Calgary.
Things are expected to settle down for the early part of the week, however rain is possible for the next seven days.
