Testosterone products seized from Next Level Fitness in Richmond, Surrey

Two unauthorized health products have been seized by Health Canada from Next Level Fitness locations in Richmond and Surrey. The products were labelled to contain a prescription drug substance, called L-Dopa, that could pose serious health risks.

The products are called:

  • Ballistic Laboratories – TRT (Testosterone Booster)
  • Freak N’ Muscle Inc- Freak’n Test (Testosterone Enhancer)

Both have the ingredient Mucuna Pruriens (L-Dopa).

Health Canada is warning anyone who may have used either of these two products and have health concerns to consult their doctor.

Anyone with a heart condition, high blood pressure or diabetes will be most at risk.

L-Dopa, which is also known as levodopa, may interact with drugs prescribed for high blood pressure and should not be used by pregnant women, or those  who plan to become pregnant or are breastfeeding.

It should also not be taken by people with narrow angle glaucoma; untreated heart, liver, kidney, lung or hormonal diseases; a history of melanoma, or those who should not take drugs such as isoproterenol, amphetamines or epinephrine.
Some symptoms people experience while taking levodopa include uncontrollable movements of the face, eyelids, mouth, tongue, neck, arms, hands, or legs; severe or persistent nausea or vomiting; an irregular heartbeat or fluttering in the chest; feeling lightheaded when standing quickly, or unusual changes in mood or behaviour.
Health Canada warns that authorized health products have an eight-digit number on them with DIN, DIN-HM or NPN.
The locations of Next Level Fitness are #130 – 12560 Bridgeport Road, Richmond and #108 – 13569 76 Ave, Surrey.
