Good Samaritans rescue eagle tangled in net in New Brunswick lake

Four New Brunswickers came to the rescue of an eagle tangled in a net and struggling to get free in a New Brunswick lake. – Jul 25, 2016

Four New Brunswickers out for a day on the lake came across something out of the ordinary last week.

Neil Stewart and three others were spending the day boating at Maquapit Lake in New Brunswick when they noticed an eagle in the water.

At first, Stewart says they didn’t think anything of it, but when they passed the bird a second time they noticed it was stuck in a net and struggling to get free.

Stewart says the bird beat them with its wings, but after about half an hour, they were able to free the eagle.

“It was a once in a lifetime experience,” said Stewart.
