WINNIPEG — As Manitoba Hydro crews work to restore power to thousands of people, the effects of no electricity are starting to be felt across the province.
While some areas of Manitoba have the lights back on, the crown corporation expects some areas won’t have power until Friday.

No power means perishable food that has to stay cold will start to spoil.
Manitoba Hydro has tweeted out guidelines for how long a fridge and freezer will stay cold.

Fridge
- Food will keep for approximately four hours
Freezer
- If it is half-full food will keep for approximately 24 hours.
- If it is full of food will keep for approximately 48 hours.
Manitoba Hydro is reminding people to limit opening the door to your fridge and freezer to not let the cold air out.
