Warrant issued for alleged cancer fraudster

 Police have issued a warrant for a man accused of benefiting from a fraudulent cancer fundraiser.

In July 2011, a silent auction was held at the downtown bar Broken City, to allegedly raise funds for his cancer treatment. Approximately $7,500 was raised, but attendees soon became skeptical about whether or not the man actually had cancer.

A police investigation was launched last month, and the economic crimes unit found that the suspect had raised the money under fraudulent pretenses.

28-year-old Kristopher Nicholas Cook is now wanted on two counts of fraud. He is described as white, 5’8″ tall, 140 lbs. with a slim build.

He has brown eyes and brown hair with a receding hairline.

Anyone with information about his whereabouts is asked to call police.
