Red Earth First Nation, Sask. evacuees returning home

Evacuees from a flood-threatened northern Saskatchewan reserve will start heading home on Monday.

Hundreds of people from the Red Earth First Nation were sent to Prince Albert, Saskatoon and Regina last week because of rising water on the Carrot River.

The provincial government sent flood mitigation equipment and material to the community, along with personnel to assist local emergency operations.

Band leaders decided on the weekend to start sending residents home with the help of emergency management and social services.
