Stephen Colbert took the Republican National Convention stage in Cleveland Sunday in a blue wig to launch the The Hunger Games, er, rather the Power Games, and take a stab at Donald Trump.

“It is my honour, to hereby launch and begin the 2016 Republican National Hungry for Power Games,” he says as he bangs a gavel.

Colbert then get’s dragged away – but it’s unclear if that was for real or for show.

“Look, look, I know I’m not supposed to be up here, but let’s be honest – neither is Donald Trump,” Colbert quips as he is pulled away from the microphone.

The comedian has done this bit before on his TV show, The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, dressed in The Hunger Games host Caesar Flickerman garb; for those not familiar with the wildly popular book and move series it’s pretty much a bunch of kids forced to kill each other until the last pair standing wins.

The GOP convention officially starts Monday. Donald Trump is expected to be named the official Republican presidential nominee on Thursday; he has chosen Indiana Gov. Mike Pence as his running mate.

While countless insults rather than arrows will be thrown leading into this November’s U.S. presidential election, you can bet things will get messy over the next few months.

The election is set to be like no other: Trump – an abrasive reality TV star with no political experience – will go head-to-head with Democrat Hillary Clinton, the first woman to run for president for a major party.

You can likely see more of Colbert’s time at the GOP convention on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, which airs weeknights at 11:35 p.m. on Global.
