Vessel support structure failure at K+S Bethune mine

K + S Potash Canada has confirmed that at 4:23 a.m. Sunday morning, a vessel fell down through a structure that it was on top of causing “consequential damage.”

No significant injuries were reported.

Unconfirmed tips have come into Global News that the vessel, which has to do with the crystallization process, fell four stories down the indoor structure.

K+S Group has confirmed that the Bethune construction site is currently on stand down, however operations are functioning as normal.

This matter has been reported to the appropriate officials and is currently under investigation.
