Mark MacDonald is leading an international online best-beard competition.
The 43-year-old Moncton man, who’s been growing his beard for four years, entered the competition after a friend suggested he had a shot. MacDonald didn’t take it seriously at first, but now things have changed.
“Now, I wanna win. Before I was like ‘it’s cool just to enter.’ Now, with a couple of weeks left I really wanna win,” MacDonald said.
The Big Beard Online Competition is run by a German website, and it functions in two stages. First, the public votes on their favourite beard from the list of competitors, and then a panel of judges picks the best beard from a pool of the top vote-getters.
As of Friday, Mark is leading the competition with almost 2,000 votes. The contest ends at the end of July.
