2 drivers charged in January fatal collision near Edmonton

Charges have been laid against two drivers involved in a collision that claimed the life of a 17-year-old boy in January.

On Jan. 27, a car collided with a truck towing a loaded a flat deck trailer.

A 17-year-old boy, who was a passenger in the car, died in the crash while the three other people in the vehicle suffered non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the tow truck wasn’t injured.

The collision happened in Sturgeon County, about 45 kilometres north of Edmonton.

The 58-year-old driver of the tow truck has been charged with failing to yield to a motor vehicle, and the 18-year-old driver of the car has been charged with careless driving and speeding.

RCMP aren’t releasing the names of the drivers, who are scheduled to appear in court on Aug. 25.
