UPDATE: The PDWA was lifted for the City of North Battleford as of July 15

It will be at least one more day before the precautionary drinking water advisory (PDWA) for North Battleford, Sask. will be lifted.

In a Facebook post on Friday morning, officials said the PDWA had to be extended for at least another day due to a sampling error.

Another set of water samples have been submitted for testing and officials are hoping to have the PDWA lifted for the weekend.

Under the PDWA, water should be boiled for at least one minute before being consumed or used for brushing teeth, washing fruits and vegetables, making ice cubes or dishwashing.

The PDWA was issued on July 6 after a valve leak was discovered in the water tower and a small amount of water entered the distribution system.

Work to repair the valve could not be done until after scheduled maintenance on the water tower.

Officials say repairs and cleaning of the water tower are now complete.
