Nova Scotia’s college of physicians says an Iranian-born doctor who had his licence revoked may be eligible to practise in the province again.
In a recent decision, the college says Mohsen Yavari had his medical licence revoked because he under-reported his qualifications.
He had been recruited from overseas to serve patients in Glace Bay and was welcomed by the aging community that was badly in need of physicians.

But the college says Yavari didn’t disclose six years he spent as an emergency medicine specialist in Dubai when he applied to a program to bring foreign doctors to under-serviced parts of Nova Scotia.
It says he was intentionally deceptive about qualifications that would have made him ineligible for the family physician program.
But the college says Yavari was motivated to lie by difficult circumstances, has no other disciplinary history, co-operated with the investigation and is supported by colleagues.
He agreed to have his licence revoked and the committee says he could be eligible to return to practice under certain conditions after at least four months.
