Saskatoon police seize 40 bikes, meth during court check

Two men are facing charges after police recovered 40 bikes at a Saskatoon property early last Friday morning.

The charges stem from a court check being carried out by patrol officers who went to a home in the 300-block of Avenue J to ensure a man was abiding by his court conditions.

The officers found two men in the garage, along with a numerous bicycles, wheels and tires, and a baggie of methamphetamine.

As the investigation progressed, the officers said they found 40 bicycles and 40-50 wheels spread over two the rear of two houses.

A 35-year-old man is facing charges of possession of meth and breach of recognizance.

A 26-year-old man is facing a charge of breaching a conditional sentence order.

The general investigation section continues to investigate.

Police are using the recovery of the bikes to remind people to record the serial number of their bicycle in order to claim lost or stolen property.

The #GetMyBikeBack campaign encourages people to take a picture of their bike’s serial number for future reference.
