Man charged with operating as unlicensed vehicle dealer in Humboldt, Sask.

The Financial and Consumer Affairs Authority (FCAA) of Saskatchewan says an unlicensed dealer allegedly selling vehicles in Humboldt is now facing charges.

A tip was received back in 2015 indicating that Marty Auto Sales, also known as Marty’s Auto Sales, was operating without a vehicle dealer licence and an investigation was launched.

These types of sales are referred to as “curbing” due to vehicles being displayed with “For Sale” signs on the side of the road.

Kyle Martin, of Marty Auto Sales, was ordered in February to cease automotive sales by the FCAA’s consumer protection division.

Martin and his company have been charged under The Consumer Protection and Business Practices Act with a combination of 26 charges of operating as a dealer without a licence.

His first provincial court appearance in Humboldt was on June 20 which was adjourned to July 18.
