Charges against Ball include assault with a weapon, various charges related to dangerous driving, break and enter, fraud, theft and failing to stop for police.

Ball and a woman were taken into custody early Tuesday morning after an SUV stolen from Leduc hit a building, a tree and then stopped at a barrier. The initial call to police was for reports a man was assaulting a woman in a parking lot in the area of 52 Street and 26 Avenue N.E. at about 12:30 a.m. Tuesday.

“Upon police arrival, the man and woman got into a white Jeep Cherokee, which had previously been reported stolen, and drove northbound in the southbound lanes of 52 Avenue, nearly hitting the marked police vehicles that were responding to the incident,” police said in a previous statement.

Police said the woman was not facing charges as of Wednesday afternoon.
