One woman is in critical condition and three other people injured after a bizarre crash on Centre Street North Tuesday afternoon.

Four ambulances responded to a two-vehicle crash between a sedan and an SUV on Centre Street and 4 Avenue North around 3:40 p.m.

EMS reported that after the crash, the SUV ended up on the sidewalk where it struck a female pedestrian and then rammed into a building, injuring another woman.

In total four people were injured and taken to hospital.

The pedestrian, a woman in her 70s, is in potentially life-threatening condition. A woman in her 30s, who was also a pedestrian, suffered minor injuries.

A woman in her 80s, who was inside the building that was hit by the SUV, suffered minor injuries, and a man in his 20s, who was the driver of one of the vehicles, also suffered minor injuries.

Centre Street was shut down and remained closed as of 6 p.m.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
