Toronto’s medical officer of health has issued a heat warning as temperatures are expected to reach or exceed 31 C on Tuesday and Wednesday.
City health officials are advising the public to check on vulnerable family members, friends or neighbours and anyone who may be susceptible to heat-related illnesses.
The public is also encouraged to stay cool by drinking plenty of fluids, by wearing light and breathable clothing when outdoors and avoiding prolonged sun exposure if possible.
The city advisory coincides with a heat warning issued by Enviroment Canada on Monday. The humidex level is expected to reach 38 C on Wednesday and there’s no relief in sight until Friday when the daytime high will drop to 25 C with a chance of showers.
