Winnipeg Blue Bombers bring in trio to help right the ship

WINNIPEG – After an 0-and-2 start the Winnipeg Blue Bombers are pulling out all the stops to try and get the season on track.

The Bombers signed three players on Monday as they returned to the practice field to prepare for the Hamilton Tiger-Cats on Thursday night.

The Bombers signed national fullback/defensive lineman James Tuck to the active roster while they also signed national linebacker Herve Tonye-Tonye and national offensive lineman T-Dre Player to practice roster agreements.

Player, 24, was born in Winnipeg. He was originally selected 12th overall by the BC Lions in the 2014 CFL Draft after playing at Northwestern State. He started 11 games for the Leos over two seasons.

Tuck, 26, played the last two seasons with the Montreal Alouettes and started the season on their active roster. He appeared in 15 games, where he had nine special teams tackles. Tuck can play on both sides of the football.

Tonye-Tonye, 28, spent the last four season with the Toronto Argonauts and suited up for 40 CFL games. He played all 18 games last season where he registered 13 special teams tackles and two forced fumbles.
