Police find body within car of missing Winnipeg man

WINNIPEG — Police say they have found a car “associated” with a man missing since June 25.

The dive unit found a red Hyundai Elantra belonging to Hirenkumar “Herry” Patel, 31, near the Fort Garry Bridge on Thursday evening. A heavy police presence was spotted near the river, along with tire tracks that led from the road to the body of water.

Police also confirmed they found a body within the car but are awaiting autopsy results before confirming the person’s identity.

Patel was last seen on June 25 in the East Kildonan neighbourhood after leaving work. Hundreds of volunteers, friends and family have been canvassing neighbourhoods and putting up posters in an effort to find Patel.
