Canada Day 2016: What’s open and closed in Toronto

Canada Day means a bunch of store and government service closures on Friday, but there’s still plenty to do on the statutory holiday.

What’s Closed

  • City of Toronto offices
  • Libraries
  • Post offices
  • Banks
  • Beer and liquor stores
  • Malls: Yorkdale, Fairview Mall, Scarborough Town Centre, Sherway Gardens and Hillcrest
  • Most major grocery stores are closed

Public Transit

Both TTC and GO Transit will run on holiday service schedules.

What’s Open

  • Malls: Eaton Centre, Square One, Pacific Mall, Markville Mall, Toronto Premium Outlets, and Vaughan Mills
  • Main tourist attractions: Toronto Zoo, ROM, Ontario Science Centre, Ripley’s Aquarium, Canada’s Wonderland
