How often have you changed your mind about buying something or taken your business elsewhere because you received poor customer service? According to a study by Accenture, 49 per cent of Canadians have done just that in the past year.
So where in Canada can you find great customer service? Market research experts J.D. Power say several Canadian companies, mainly in the automotive, finance and insurance industries, fare best with consumers.
The company’s website says their “power circle ratings are based on independent and unbiased feedback from millions of verified product and service owners.” To determine who’s tops, each company is voted as among the best, better than most, above average and average in a variety of categories by purchasers.

10. The Co-operators
The Co-operators did well in the 2015 Canadian Auto Claims Satisfaction Study, but also won in the Alberta, Atlantic Canada and Ontario regions in the 2016 Canadian Auto Insurance Customer Satisfaction Study.
9. State Farm
While The Co-operators and Belairdirect had higher scores in the Canadian Auto Claims Satisfaction Study, State Farm got two “better than most” ratings. The company scored an “average” in the remaining five ratings factors.

8. Intact Insurance
Intact Insurance came out on top in the 2015 Canadian Auto Claims Satisfaction Study, with three “among the best” ratings and three “better than most.”
7. Scotiabank
Scotiabank also fared well in the Canadian Small Business Banking Customer Satisfaction Study, with four “among the best” ratings. The bank scored a further three “better than most” ratings and one “average,” but was rated below average for its banking fees.
6. TD Canada Trust
In the 2014 Canadian Small Business Banking Customer Satisfaction Study, TD Canada Trust scored an impressive “among the best” rating in seven of the nine ratings factors, as well as two “better than most” ratings.
5. ATB Financial
Among midsize banks, ATB Financial got two “among the best” ratings, one “better than most” and four “average” ratings in the Canadian Small Business Banking Customer Satisfaction Study.

4. RBC Royal Bank
In the category for the Big 5 banks in the Canadian Retail Banking Customer Satisfaction Study, RBC Royal Bank got two “among the best” ratings, one “better than most” and five “average” ratings.
3. Tangerine
Tangerine scored the highest in the Canadian Retail Banking Customer Satisfaction Study for 2015, in the categories for both the Big 5 and Midsize Banks. The bank scored an “among the best” in five of six ratings factors but got a below average score for its facilities.
2. NAPA AUTOPRO
In one ratings factor in the CSI-LT Study, NAPA AUTOPRO scored an “among the best.” The company also got a “better than most” in four ratings factors and an “average” in one.
1. Lexus
J. D. Power’s Canadian Customer Service Index Long Term (CSI-LT) Study for 2015 found that Lexus offers the best customer service in the automotive industry. The company scored an “among the best” rating in five of six ratings factors and one “better than most” rating.
