Celebrities in the U.K. are also split on Brexit. “Remain” voter and Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling tweeted “I don’t think I’ve ever wanted magic more,” while actress Elizabeth Hurley, an open “Leave” supporter, said she promises “not to gloat or whinge.”
Comedian Ricky Gervais resorted to his usual nihilistic humour to get through the vote result.
TV host James Corden rued for the future of British youth, as did singer Lily Allen.
Former House actor Hugh Laurie took a more measured, cryptic approach to the Brexit news.
Political commentator Piers Morgan, who supported leaving the EU, has made several comments about the vote and says he’s writing a blog post about it. He predicts the next step will be Scotland seeking independence.
An allegedly intoxicated Julian Lennon, the son of late Beatle John Lennon, didn’t hold back to TMZ, saying that Britain’s decision to leave the EU is a disaster.
