RCMP are investigating after a woman was sexually assaulted while using the trail system in Spruce Grove Saturday night.
Police said the woman was jogging near King Street at around 8:20 p.m. when a man passed her going the opposite direction. Officers said the man grabbed the woman, forced her into a nearby car and sexually assaulted her. The car was parked on King Street.
“It’s shocking to us, just as it was when it happened in Stony Plain this past April, because this is totally out of the norm for this community,” Cpl. Kimberly Mueller with Spruce Grove RCMP, said.

Mueller encouraged people to stay safe by heading out with at least one other person and by staying on the main roadways instead of heading into more secluded areas.
The suspect is described as a man in his early 20s with a thin build and broad shoulders. He stands about 6’4″ to 6’5″ tall. Police said he has light brown hair, which falls just past his ears.
The suspect was wearing a black sweater with a square logo on the front. Police believe it may have been a bank logo. He was also wearing dark-coloured windbreaker pants.
