“I would always just tell my daughters I wanted love letters instead of bills,” Jane told KING5. “It was a joke.”

But Jane’s rapturous plea was taken to heart by her daughters, who lovingly made their mother’s dream come true.

Her daughters painted their mailbox pink and emblazoned it with the words “Love Letters Only.”

Admirers quickly grew fond of the mailbox, and soon Jane was receiving the love letters she yearned for.

“With all the things going on around the world, people really need this message of love and acceptance,” said Jane, who believes the mailbox has become an outlet for people to express their sympathy, admiration and affection.

“I think it is very therapeutic,” she said. “That’s why I want to keep the anonymity of it so people can feel like they’re just putting it out there.”

According to Jane, the letters she receives range from sad notes of love lost to correspondence expressing simple gratitude.

“I was just thinkn’ about you when I saw your mailbox,” read one letter littered with little red hearts. “I find you so irresistible! You keep doin you.”

Jane has received messages sent in bottles, while others have been scrawled on the backs of grocery store receipts:

And though at times a thread may break,
A new one forms in its wake,
To bind us closer and keep us strong,
In a special world where we belong.

“It’s really heartwarming to know that people actually leave love letters in my mailbox,” Jane said.
