2 unsupervised learning drivers ticketed by Saskatoon police after crash

Two learning drivers were ticketed following a crash Sunday afternoon in Saskatoon. The crash happened just before 1 p.m. CT at the intersection of Taylor Street East and Preston Avenue South.

Police said one of the vehicles was travelling north on Preston when it failed to stop at a red light and was struck by a westbound vehicle on Taylor.

The 17-year-old driver of the westbound vehicle and his eight-year-old passenger were treated by paramedics for minor injuries.

Both drivers involved were ticketed because they only held learner’s licences and were unaccompanied by a licensed driver.

The 34-year-old man who was driving the northbound vehicle was charged for failing to stop for a red traffic signal.

Traffic in the area was impacted for a short time but was flowing normally at the intersection by around 2:10 p.m. Sunday.
