WINNIPEG – The seventh Jim Woodman street hockey tournament is once again raising for money for CancerCare Manitoba.
The annual event is named after the former Winnipeg fire captain who died at the age of 51, in 2004, from cancer.
“The Woodman family founded the tournament in 2009 in memory of their own hero; a husband, a father a brother and an uncle,” read a news release about the event.
Over the past six years approximately $33,000 has been raised for CancerCare Manitoba through donations from community members and local businesses.
The tournament runs Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Norberry-Glenlee Community Centre
