MONTREAL – The Pointe-Claire Plaza celebrates over 50 years in the community Saturday with its annual Family Fun Day.
Pony rides, face painting, cotton candy and popcorn were all part of the magic at Saturday’s event but nothing says family fun like bouncy castles and inflatable slides — especially when parents are allowed to join in the bouncing.
Animal rescues were also on site trying to find forever homes for some furry friends.

Organizers said the free event was a way to say thank you for all the support over the years.
“We’re just showing merchant appreciation for the support from the community,” said Mike Smith president of the merchant’s association.

Even more important though, Family Fun Day is a way to give back to the community.
This year, the merchant’s association partnered with the Big Brothers Big Sisters of the West Island, who were there to collect donations and hand out cotton candy.
“It’s an opportunity for us to reach out to the community and let them know we’re there, that we have services for their children,” said Francesca Corso, spokesperson for the Big Brothers and Big Sisters.

Corso also said that the organization hopes to recruit some volunteers expressing an urgent need for eight Big Brothers in the Pincourt-Vaudreuil-Hudson area.
“That is really important. We need those Big Brothers,” Corso said.
