With 16 medals on Thursday afternoon (as of 3:45 p.m. ET on Aug. 9) Canada is doing above-average for Olympics in the past decade.
While we haven’t yet hit the 18-medal total of Beijing, we have already beaten our totals in Sydney and Athens.
Canada’s most successful Olympics were Atlanta in 1996, where we won 22 medals, and Los Angeles in 1984, where we won 44 – although that was the games where many Soviet Bloc countries boycotted the event.
