Calgary police have confirmed that the seven-year-old girl who was critically injured when a truck driven by her father backed over her last week has died.
On Thursday, Sloane Marie Viczko was critically injured in her family’s driveway in the Tuscany neighbourhood.
Police said the girl was playing on the sidewalk in front of her house when she was hit by a 2012 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck.
She was rushed to hospital in critical condition but passed away Tuesday.
The community was filled with blue ribbons over the weekend as hundreds were put on trees and posts as a show of support for the family.
Beyond the ribbons, there has also been an outpouring of donations. The GoFundMe site alone has collected more than $89,000.
