Saskatchewan Rush 1 win away from clinching 2nd championship

SaskTel Centre will be rocking this Saturday as the Saskatchewan Rush look to clinch their second straight National Lacrosse League (NLL) Champion’s Cup. The Rush downed the Buffalo Bandits 11-9 Saturday to take Game 1 in the best of three final.

The Rush were led by Robert Church, who had two goals and three assists. Mark Matthews added two goals and three assists.

Ben McIntosh netted the winner with 4:16 left in the fourth quarter and Zach Greer scored the insurance goal 50 seconds later.

Goaltender Aaron Bold made 44 saves for the win, including all 14 he faced in the first quarter.

Another sell-out crowd is expected this Saturday when the top two teams in the NLL take the floor in Game 2 of the Champion’s Cup. Game time is 7 p.m. CT.
