Semi-truck driver killed in crash northeast of Edmonton

A man is dead following an early Sunday morning collision involving a pickup truck and a semi-truck northeast of Edmonton, according to the RCMP.

Mounties said officers were called to a crash on Highway 15 between Lamont and Chipman at 3:15 a.m.

The man driving the semi-truck was pronounced dead at the scene while the man driving the pickup truck was taken to hospital in Edmonton. His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

Highway 15 remained closed between Range Road 190 and Range Road 191 late Sunday morning and drivers were being rerouted around the crash scene while police continued to investigate.

RCMP did not say what caused the crash.
