WATCH: Man walks into Coquitlam coffee shop, steals its giant teddy bear

UPDATE: Bearamel was safely returned yesterday to Creekside Coffee Factory by the person who originally took him.

Staff and customers of a Coquitlam coffee shop were shocked last Saturday to discover their giant teddy bear – the mascot of the cafe – had been taken.

April Shim, who has been working at Creekside Coffee Factory, located at 19-2773 Barnet Highway for over a year, said it was during the shift change on Saturday that a man walked in, grabbed the bear and walked out.

“He was not a customer that day,” said Shim.

The coffee shop posted the surveillance video on their Facebook page to show what happened.

The bear, known as ‘Bearamel Macchiato’ has lived at the coffee shop for more than five years and Shim said a lot of people, especially kids, just love him.

“I don’t know why someone would steal a teddy bear,” she said.

Staff are now hoping someone recognizes the man in the video and they are urging him to bring Bearamel back – no questions asked.

“It would be great if he can just bring him back to us,” said Shim.
