The ceremony began with firefighters holding a minute of silence for their departed colleagues and ended with a visit to a monument built in tribute to those who died while on duty.
The event held annually is meant not only to remember the fallen but to recognize their sacrifices and service to the city.
The honoured tradition dates as far back as 1894.
