Montreal firefighters battle blaze at iconic Snowdon Theatre

MONTREAL – Firefighters were called to the scene of a fire on Decarie Boulevard at 4:37 p.m. Saturday.

The blaze started on the second floor of the now vacant Snowdon Theatre, once a thriving movie house.

The theatre was recently put up for sale by the City of Montreal after having been boarded up and left to deteriorate.

At 5:11 p.m. the blaze was declared a three-alarm fire, with more than 90 firefighters and 35 vehicles on the scene.

There have been no injuries reported and the cause of the fire is not yet known.
