10 years later, police still investigating Misha Pavelick’s murder

REGINA – It’s been ten years since 19-year-old Misha Pavelick was stabbed to death during a fight at an abandoned campground near Regina Beach, Sask.

Pavelick was attending an annual Miller High School May long weekend party on a rented piece of private property.

To date, no charges have been laid in relation to Misha’s death. In 2009, RCMP said they had spoken to nearly 200 people who were at the party, with 125 formal interviews being conducted.

Many of the individuals have since been interviewed again.

Saturday, May 21 is the official anniversary of Pavelick’s death and RCMP say they are still dedicated to solving the murder.

“We are encouraging anyone with information, however big or small, about the night Misha was killed to come forward,” Sgt. Rob Zentner, from RCMP Historical Case Unit South, said in a statement.

“We understand this can be difficult to do and encourage those who are anxious to provide information anonymously through Crime Stoppers.”

Pavelick’s family have also issued a statement in which they talk about Misha’s love for competitive sport and music.

“We understand the depth of grief and sorrow because we are still experiencing it,” the Pavelick family said.

Like the RCMP, the family is urging people to come forward.

“Many things happen in ten years. People change, thinking and beliefs evolve and old unhealthy allegiances end,” the family said.

“It’s possible to do the right thing, if not for Misha, then for yourself and your future.”
