EDMONTON — Starting on Saturday, buses will replace LRT service between the Clareview and Churchill stations as crews work on a number of maintenance projects.
Crews will work around the clock to get several projects done as quickly as possible.
Some of the planned work includes:
- Painting the roof of Coliseum Station
- Replacing wood railway ties with concrete ties
- Replacing rocks along the LRT tracks between 95 Street and 92 Street, as well as Yellowhead bridge and 66 Street
- Performing overhead wiring maintenance
- Completing extensive LRT station cleaning and maintenance, such as tile work and painting

The City of Edmonton said the work will improve the LRT’s ride quality and lifespan. Regular LRT service is scheduled to resume Tuesday morning.
Trains will run every 15 minutes between the Century Park and NAIT stations over the weekend.
On Saturday, Sunday and Monday, bus shuttles between Corona and Clareview stations will run every seven to eight minutes. Bus stop signs will be marked “LRT Replacement Service.”
On top of the transit disruptions, some pathway, lane and road closures will be in effect, starting at 12:01 a.m. Saturday.
- 66 Street will be closed to vehicle and pedestrian traffic between Fort Road and 124 Avenue (local access to the businesses next to the tracks will be maintained)
- 92 Street will be closed to vehicle and pedestrian traffic between 106A Avenue and 107 Avenue
- 95 Street will be reduced to one lane of traffic in each direction between 105 Avenue and 106 Avenue
- East sidewalk on 95 Street will be closed to pedestrians
- Shared use path that runs beside the LRT track between 76 Street and 66 Street will be closed
The city said these closures are in relation to the work being done at area LRT stations. The closures are expected to last until 5 a.m. Tuesday.
