Police are searching for a man wanted in connection to a violent home invasion in southwest Calgary that left two seniors badly injured.

It happened at around 1:30 p.m. on Monday, May 9.

Police said the victims, a 68-year-old man and a 67-year-old woman, were in their home in the community of Southwood when it’s believed the suspect entered through an unlocked patio door.

“The suspect was visibly upset and began to argue with the homeowner,” police said in a Tuesday news release. “The suspect then physically assaulted the male, knocking him to the ground.”

According to investigators, the woman attempted to pull the suspect off the man but was also pushed. She left the room to call 911, at which time the suspect allegedly followed her and pulled the phone out of the wall. She was, however, able to move to another room to call for help.

The suspect then ran off through the patio door.

The male victim was rushed to hospital where he underwent facial reconstructive surgery due to his injuries. The female victim has a possible back injury.

Police are now looking to the public for help locating 50-year-old Peter Robin Taylor.

Taylor is described as approximately 5’10” tall and 240 pounds with blackish grey hair and brown eyes.

He has outstanding warrants for break and enter, common assault and aggravated assault. He is also charged with damage to property.

Police said Taylor has an auto mechanics background and may be working as a mobile mechanic.

“This is not believed to be a random incident, as the suspect and homeowners have had a business relationship in the past,” police explained.
