UPDATE – Okanagan Falls explosion/fire likely arson

Contributed -- John Goudie

UPDATE – Police are describing the fire as suspicious.

RCMP Cpl. Don Wigglesworth says the motor of the unoccupied vehicle wasn’t running and the door was found open by a person driving by.

“So at this time, it is being treated as an arson investigation unless we can prove otherwise, that it was an electrical or mechanical issue. But that would be unlikely at this time in the investigation,” says Wigglesworth.

OKANAGAN FALLS — A gas station in Okanagan Falls sustained minor damage as the result of an explosion.

According to witnesses, the incident happened at around 11:30 p.m. Monday at the Centex station where a commercial truck burst into flames.

“The OK Falls Fire Department responded immediately. They put out the fire before it spread to the neighboring gas station,” he says.

Goudie says the Ok Falls garage next door was slightly damaged but firefighters managed to save the building.
