Gursimar Bedi was charged with accessory after the fact for the 2011 shooting and stabbing of Batalia.

He drove the vehicle used on the day of the attack through a car wash.

Batalia was gunned down while leaving a study session outside of the SFU Surrey campus by her jealous ex-boyfriend, Gary Dhaliwal.

He was found guilty of second-degree murder in March and sentenced to life with no parole for 21 years.
