The final arguments are expected to be heard today in the case against Gursimar Singh Bedi, the co-accused in the murder of Maple Batalia.
Bedi is charged with manslaughter and accessory to murder after the fact in Gurjinder Dhaliwal’s ambush of his ex-girlfriend in 2011.
Dhaliwal was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole for 21 years in the murder of Batalia earlier this month.
Dhaliwal had originally been charged with first-degree murder in Batalia’s death. He unexpectedly entered a guilty plea on March 3.

Batalia, 19, was gunned down after a late-night study session at Simon Fraser University’s Surrey campus on Sept. 28, 2011. She was shot five times, three of which hit her torso. She also had 11 cuts on the top and back of her head.
Batalia was studying to become a dermatologist, but was also an aspiring actress and model.
The Crown alleges Bedi rented the white Charger used in that attack and that he also spied on Maple Batalia and reported her movements to her killer.
