SASKATOON – Rush hour will take on a new meaning in Saskatoon on Friday, May 20. On that day, a rally will be held downtown over the noon-hour to get fans fired up for the Saskatchewan Rush’s first home playoff game.

The rally taking place on 21st Street between 3rd and 4th is being hosted by Tourism Saskatoon and Saskatoon Sports Tourism.

“I really hope everyone gets behind the Saskatchewan Rush as they prepare for their first-ever home playoff game,” said Todd Brandt, president and CEO of Tourism Saskatoon.

“The Rush have already brought so much to the community – let’s build on their spirit!”

Businesses are being encouraged to deck-out offices and store-fronts and to have staff dressed in green and black.

Rush president Lee Genier said the team has been overwhelmed with the support so far from the community.

“We are extremely excited and proud to see an entire province unite around the team as we continue our playoff run,” said Genier.

“To see a community rally around a team and travel from all corners of the province is incredible. We appreciate the amazing support and look forward to defending the championship.”

The Rush will take on their arch-rival Calgary Roughnecks in a rematch of last year’s West final. The Rush needed to win a 10-minute Game 3 tiebreaker to down the Roughnecks on their way to their first NLL championship.

Game 1 is this Saturday at the Scotiabank Saddledome in Calgary. Game 2 takes place on May 21 at SaskTel Centre, with a 10-minute tiebreaker game immediately afterwards if the teams are tied.

The winner of the series will face either the Buffalo Bandits or New England Black Wolves in the Champion’s Cup Final.
