Horrific fatal crash on Highway 36 near Taber

RCMP were called to the scene of a crash between a pickup truck and semi-truck and trailer on Highway 36 near Taber at around 8 a.m. Sunday morning.

RCMP said the pickup truck was travelling northbound when it collided with the southbound semi-truck and trailer.

A 36-year-old from Taber, who was driving the pickup, died in the collision. The semi-truck driver was airlifted to a Calgary hospital.

Traffic was still being rerouted as of 2 p.m. Sunday but was expected to reopen soon.

RCMP continue to investigate the cause of the collision.
