REGINA – The province’s first P3 construction project has been completed in Swift Current, Sask. and according to the province, it was finished on time and on budget.

Construction of the new regional long term care facility, called “The Meadows” is complete and builders handed over the keys to the Cypress Health Region.

“Long-term care residents in Swift Current and area present and future now have an outstanding new facility to call home,” Premier Brad Wall said.

According to the province, building the facility using the P3 model saved $16 million compared to what the project would have cost using traditional funding models.

The Meadows will provide 225 long-term care beds in a single community for seniors. The design for the facility involved input from staff, patients and families.

The health region will now begin furnishing the homes, familiarizing staff to the new facility and moving in the residents.
