Water rescue crews abandoned the search late Monday and police divers took over Tuesday morning. Police say they are looking for a young male, in his teens or early 20s, but don’t know who he is.
Officers first responded to reports of an altercation and a man going into the water. Police now say neighbours found a distraught man by the pond, who became agitated and went into the water under his own power. Police say at least two witnesses saw the man go into the pond, so they continue to look for him although they haven’t yet received a report of anyone going missing.
Police are asking for any other witnesses to come forward that can help identify the potential victim, or shed light on what happened.
“Anyone who may know this individual or have any concerns regarding someone who has not made contact with family or friends in the last 24 hours,” said Cst. Jason Michalyshen.
