12 vehicles stolen in 48-hour period in Battlefords area

A rash of vehicle thefts in the Battlefords area have police sounding the alarm. In a 48-hour period, 12 vehicles were stolen in the city and surrounding rural region.

Mounties said that in each case, the keys had be left inside by the owners.

Police have recovered 11 of the 12 stolen vehicles and said many of them were severely damaged or burnt.

One youth is in custody and charges are pending.

Battlefords RCMP are still looking for a black Chevrolet Suburban with Saskatchewan licence plate 318 ISA.

Mounties are reminding motorists to lock up, remove all valuables from inside and remove any spare keys from the interior of the vehicle.
