Man’s death in Leduc County deemed homicide

The Edmonton RCMP Major Crimes Unit has confirmed it is investigating a homicide after a man was found dead inside a home on a rural property in Leduc County Monday night.

Officers responded to a report of a sudden death Monday at approximately 10:20 p.m.

Police said the man was found inside the home by some acquaintances. After paramedics arrived, they called RCMP for help.

RCMP officers remained on scene Monday morning, going door to door to gather information from neighbours. The driveway to the rural property just east of Beaumont remained cordoned off by police tape.

Neighbours in the area said the home is part of the Green Acres community. They said it’s a generally quiet area and many of the homes are gated off.

Some of the neighbours who spoke to Global News said they didn’t hear anything unusual Monday night.

RCMP said a green Toyota Camry, which was parked on the side of a road near the home, is part of the investigation.

Police said the victim is a 34-year-old Leduc man. His name and cause of death have not been released.
