KELOWNA–The Seattle Thunderbirds have a two-games-to-none series lead against the Kelowna Rockets in the WHL Western Conference Championship.
The T-Birds beat the Rockets 3-2 Saturday night at Prospera Place.
The Thunderbirds scored two goals in 33 seconds in the first period to take a 2-0 lead.
Cole Linaker made the score 2-1 late in the first period, sparking the Rockets comeback.
Rourke Chartier tied the game 2-2 in the second.
But Seattle scored the winning goal with 3:06 to play in the third when Rockets goaltender Michael Herringer tried to swipe the puck away but it bounced off the leg of a Seattle player and into his net.
The next two games will be played in Seattle on Tuesday and Wednesday.
A potential Game 5 will be back at Prospera Place on Friday, April 29.
