Vernon hosts B.C. pilots for “Rust Remover” seminar

VERNON–More than 100 B.C. pilots were in Vernon Saturday, for a Rust Remover educational seminar.

The Vernon Flying Club hosts the seminar every year, for recreational pilots looking to learn something new or brush up on their skills.

“It just gets all of the pilots back into flying mode,” says Gerry Richard, a pilot with the Vernon Flying Club. “You know you get a little bit of cobwebs over winter, and you get the cob webs out.”

Breaking news from Canada and around the world sent to your email, as it happens.

The Vernon Flying Club brings in flying experts for the seminar; flight instructors, air traffic controlers, and people from Nav Canada.

They go over a number of different topics to help pilots get up to speed on the latest safety measures and flying rules.

“We have 92 members,” says Bill More, President of the Vernon Flying Club, “and the main driving force behind holding it is to make sure our members are flying as safely as they can.”
