According to SGI, there were 452 seatbelt violations in March 2015, down from the 705 that were handed out in March 2014.

During all three of those months, police across the province focused on occupant safety.

SGI statistics indicate that same focus in June 2014 delivered 431 seatbelt violations.

However, the number of violations did go up from February 2016, when 313 occupant restraint tickets were issued.

Saskatchewan drivers lose three points on their licence when the driver fails to wear a seatbelt and a passenger under 16 is not wearing a seatbelt.

Three points are also lost when a passenger under seven-years-old is not properly seated in a booster seat and when a passenger less than 18 kilograms is not properly seated in an infant seat.
